An immersive day to discover Cuban folk and traditional dances, as well as a salsa fusion workshop. A journey through roots, musicality and expression, guided by a generous and authentic teaching style. A day filled with culture, rhythm, a friendly atmosphere and passion for Cuba.
A day to explore the richness, energy and diversity of Cuban folk and traditional dances with Gissel Ortiz, a dancer and teacher trained at the prestigious Escuela Nacional de Arte in Havana, and a dancer with the Conjunto Folklórico Nacional de Cuba.
Saturday 5 December 2026:
- 4-hour workshop.
- Potluck lunch.
- 1 hour of practice followed by a question-and-answer session at the end of the workshop.

The day’s programme:
- 12.00-14.00: Physical warm-up, introduction to popular and traditional Cuban dances (danzón, mozambique, mambo, pilón, salsa fusion, etc.).
- 14.00-15.00: Potluck lunch. Everyone brings a simple, tasty dish and drinks to share so we can enjoy a convivial moment together.
- 15:00-17:00: An introduction to popular and traditional Cuban dances (danzón, mozambique, mambo, pilón, salsa fusion, etc.). A question-and-answer session at the end of the workshop.
- 17:00–18:00: Group practice to put what you’ve learnt into action and dance together.
A wonderful opportunity to refine your posture, develop your body awareness and explore traditional Cuban dances in all their authenticity, in a warm, rhythmic and friendly atmosphere.
